A contract of employment exists as soon as you agree to pay someone in return for them undertaking or carrying out work for you. You are required by law to issue written terms of employment within eight weeks of an employee starting work.

Contracts should contain the explicit terms of employment for each employee including working hours, remuneration andcontract template holidays as these may vary between employees. You staff handbook should contain general terms of employment that apply to all employees such as the disciplinary procedure, working practices and Health & Safety policy.

Our Essential Employment Contract and Essential Staff Handbook are available for immediate download.

LIMITED TIME OFFER - Get both documents for under £50! Use coupon code ESSC50 when you order the Contract Template and ESSHB50 for the Handbook Template.

Our Essential Contract and Handbook templates are low cost downloadable documents that contain all the information you are legally obliged to provide to your employees.  Templates are provided in Microsoft Word format and therefore editable with your own organisation's details. We provide the essential clauses and policies, as recommended by ACAS, to give you reliable, robust documents that you can be confident in. Our Essential Staff Handbook can be enhanced with other policies from our Toolkits.

If you require a more detailed or bespoke Contract & Handbook or if you would like a review of your existing documents then please see details here.

Failing to issue a written contract and staff handbook prevents you from specifying rules or conditions to which your employees must adhere whilst they work for you. In the event of a dispute or grievance you will only have statutory law or case law to hold employees to account.

Our Essential Staff Handbook covers the following:

Absence and sickness
Holidays and holiday pay
Equal opportunities policy
Family friendly legislation
Data protection
Public duties
Leaving the company
Employee's property
Disclosure of information
Use of company computer equipment
Whistle-blowing policy
Bribery policy
Health and safety policy/procedures
Mobile phone usage
Disciplinary procedure
Grievance procedure
