Event description:

Situational Leadership is the most comprehensive, up-to-date, and practical method of effectively managing and developing people, time, and resources in the World. It provides leaders with a model and the tools for creating open communication and developing self-reliance in those they manage. It is designed to increase the frequency and quality of conversations about performance and development. As a result, competence is developed, commitment is gained, and talented individuals are retained.

The purposes of Leadership Coaching are to:

  • Open up communication  - increase the frequency and quality of conversation about performance and development
  • Help others develop competence and commitment
  • Teach others how to provide their own direction and support
  • Receive 360 degree feedback on their leadership style which is then analysed with the impact on others considered.

The programme enables delegates to appreciate:

  • The needs of their direct reports or others that they need to undertake a task for them, through diagnosing their development level. Development Level is a combination of two factors: Competence – the individual’s demonstrated task-specific and transferable knowledge and skills on a goal or task; and Commitment the individual’s motivation and confidence on a goal or task.  Development Level is goal or task specific.  It is not an overall rating of an individual’s skills or attitude.
  • What they need to do individually or collectively as a management team to ‘get the best’ out of them by choosing appropriate leadership style.  Leadership style is a pattern of behaviours that leaders use, over time, as perceived by others.  There are two basic leadership style behaviours: Directive Behaviour – telling and showing people what to do, when to do it, how to do it and providing frequent feedback on results; and Supportive Behaviour – listening, facilitating self-reliant problem solving, encouraging, praising, and involving other in decision making.

The programme is designed to be highly participative and focused around making a difference in the business longer term as a result of a limited approach to people management.

The key improvements the business should feel as a result of the implementation of Leadership Coaching are:-

  • Improvement performance management for leaders and team members.
  • Effective communications.

More effective delegation enabling leaders to step into the senior role they need to perform at.
